Twin Summer Centres has recently acquired a great new school to host summer students in Crowthorne. This quiet town offers a great location in which students can study and take in the British countryside while relaxing with friends.
A great reason to stay at Crowthorne is its close proximity to Windsor. Located just 30 minutes away, students visiting Windsor will be treated to the stunning architecture and vast history of its famous Castle, plus plenty of other attractions.
Windsor Castle is an attraction you need to visit, being an ideal educational day trip when staying at our Crowthorne Summer Centre. Windsor Castle is well known for its beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds. It has also been linked with the royal family since the 11th century, and this castle holds a lot of history within its great halls. Windsor Castle has so much more to offer than just walking around a castle; Windsor holds events and activities for visitors. Events that you can see this month are as follows:
Legoland Windsor is the attraction that stands out when visiting Crowthorne, being extremely popular with children aged between 3 and 14; this attraction is perfect for a day out, with 55 different fictional worlds to explore, as well as interactive rides, live shows and much, much more. The resort covers over 130 acres of beautiful parkland, and it truly is a magical place with life size Lego sculptures and cities dotted around the park. The range of entertainment that Legoland has on offer is phenomenal; the water parks are especially impressive, and the pirate trail will leave you wetter than you would if you fell overboard at sea! At Viking Fleet you can battle sea monsters and rough tides, and there’s also a brand new water attraction that was opened in 2013, so make sure you check it out!
Sandhurst is just a 5 minute drive from Crowthorne, and has some interesting events that you can get involved in. First of all you have the Horseshoe Lake Activity Centre; if you’re a fan of water sports then Horseshoe Lake is right down your street. The water sports consist of canoeing, dinghy sailing, kayaking, wind surfing and raft building. Horseshoe Lake can either be a challenging fitness experience or you can take part in the fun and less competitive side of the activities (which I think a lot more people will be getting involved in in the summer). Another outdoor activity centre that you can enjoy in Sandhurst is Shepherd Meadows. Shepherd Meadows is perfect for sports, taking a stroll, enjoying nature and sheer relaxation. The 100 acres of wet wildflower meadows and woodland surrounding the River Blackwater offers plenty to do, especially when the weather is at its best in summer.
The nearby Bracknell is home to some outstanding outdoor activities such as the Look Out Discovery Centre, which has over 90 hands-on activities, Go Ape Bracknell, the UK’s No.1 forest adventure, Go Ape Forest Segway, and the Coral Reef Bracknell Water World, which provides a fun-filled leisure centre with pirate ships and water slides. Finally, there is also Westmorland Park, which offers a chilled and more relaxing activity for you to experience.
If you are looking to attend or are attending our Crowthorne summer school this year, we hope we have given you something to look forward to! There are plenty of things to do and the outdoor activities we have listed are perfect for the time year you will be in Crowthorne. Make sure you hit up these attractions and have a summer you won’t forget!
